An updated UBL XSLT package available

11/04/2004 -- We are pleased to announce the availability of a new UBL compiled XSLT stylesheets package which is downloadable from Download. The family of 34 UBL XSLT stylesheets contributed by Crane Softwrights, Ltd. has been compiled and optimized by the Gregor XSLT compiler. The resulting translets are packaged together with supporting Gregor Runtime Library and a small XML parser. The end result is a single executable jar file. The new Gregor XslPack method of XSLT deployment provides a number of benefits:

bulletit bundles together a family of interrelated stylesheets in one package
bulletzero configuration or installation: no XSLT processors or XML parsers need be configured; all that is needed is Java
bulletthe pack is deployable on handhelds/PDAs (PersonalJava and up)
bulletthe transforms are accessible via their symbolic names with implementation details (such as chaining) hidden from users
bulletthe translets are highly optimized
bulletXSLT stylesheets are all obfuscated: the stylesheet authors can protect their Intellectual Property
bulleta new, very fast implementation of Translet chaining enabling modular construction of internal transforms without paying too severe a penalty in performance
bulletin the future, commercial versions of the XslPack will expose additional APIs
